On June 16, 2016, I was on vacation in Labadee, Haiti, while on the Oasis of the Seas cruise. Out of all three islands, this was by far my favorite stop. I heard so many bad things about Haiti, through the media, that I was expecting to be on an island full of tents, with people asking for things to survive, because of the damage from the earthquakes they had, but it wasn’t anything close to that.
As soon as I arrived to Labadee, I knew it wasn’t anything like I was expecting. The scenery was great, the people were so nice, and the food was awesome! I could make a long list of all the things I liked about this place, but it’ll be really drawn out. I rather keep it short, for now, but I might add more detail, in the future.
The downside I had with Labadee was everything is really expensive. I wanted to go down the infamous zipline, but it was around $100, and by the time you arrive to Haiti, you’ve pretty much broke yourself. There were so many activities to choose from, and besides walking and looking around, my main objective was to get into the water and enjoy it the best that I can.
If you ever decide to visit Labadee, please make sure you get a GoPro, to capture everything. It’s a lot easier, and if I did research in advance, I would have done the same. I really would like to go back some time, and if I do, I’ll definitely remember to bring something better to video with.
