I purchased the Neewer 49mm Macro Lens and Filter set to go with the Canon 50mm f/1.8 IS STM lens, to be able to take better macro shots of smaller subjects, such as insects, and just to be able to take really close up photos. The lenses and accessories all came shipped really well, and came with the following items:
- Macro Close-Up Set (+1, +2, +4, and +10)
- Filter Kit (UV, CPL, and FLD)
- 2 Carrying Pouches (1 for the filter kit and 1 for the macro lenses)
- Tulip Flower Lens Hood
- Center Pinch Lens Dust Cap, with a Cap Keeper Leash
- Microfiber Lens Cleaning Cloth
I’ve been enjoying this kit a lot more than my Sigma Lens, especially with the Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens. I’m able to get really up close to the insects, at the distance I was looking for. The lenses on the close-up/macro lens are more like a magnifier, and seem well designed and don’t have a cheap feel to them. For the price, they work really well. The filters work just as well, but I usually prefer not to use them, with the pictures I take.
The carrying pouches are both the same, and have 4 slots inside, to fit each filter and macro lens. The pouch seals with a velcro strap to close the pouch. So far, the lenses and filters fit well, inside the pouch, and don’t seem too loose. I haven’t experienced any of the lenses falling out, and they fit really snug inside the slots.
There was an extra 49mm center pinch lens included, in the package, and came with a cap leash. I really don’t have a use for it, but it’s nice to have, as a spare, in case if I ever lose the cap from a 50mm lens. Also included was a tulip flower lens hood, which fits nicely on the 50mm lens.
If you’re interested in a cheap way to capture macro photography, I would suggest getting this set, instead of purchasing a dedicated macro lens. It’s a lot easier to work with, and definitely a lot cheaper.
